Alhaji Abubakar Habu Hashidu was born in Gombe State, Nigeria, on April 10th, 1944. He is a Nigerian politician and was governor of Gombe State, Nigeria, from May 29th, 1999, to May, 29th, 2003.

Before he became the Governor of Gombe State, Hashidu was a minister of Water Resources and a minister of Agriculture and Rural Development during the period General Ibrahim Babangida was the military head of state of Nigeria. Under the Sani Abacha regime, he was a member of the Vision 2010 committee set up by General Sani Abacha to chart a developmental road-map Nigeria.
In the year 1999, Hashidu contested election, and was elected, and was sworn in as governor of Gombe State on May 29th, 1999, on the platform of the All People's Party (APP). In January 2003, he bedded for re-election under the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, but lost to Mohammed Danjuma Goje under the People's Democratic Party. In 2018, he announced his defection to the All Progressive Congress.
An ardent Muslim, Hashidu is married to A’isha Abubakar Hashidu.
