Cool DJ Jimmy Jatt born Jimmy Adewale Amu on the 15th of October 1966 is a renowned DJ in Nigeria from Ijebu Ode, Ogun state. He was one of five children by his mother, Mrs Oluremi Amu and his father who was a polygamist was a successful sound equipment dealer.

Growing up, DJ Jimmy Jatts transitioned from wanting to be a lawyer then a break dancer to wanting to be a rap artist called Master J. He eventually ventured into being a DJ.

He attended Ireti Primary School, where his mum used to teach, a school that boasted the attendance of the children of Nigeria’s former head of State, General Murtala Muhammed.

DJ Jimmy Jatts who started out 'Djing' as a radio DJ for Ray Power eventually pronounced Africa's number one DJ in 1989 and 1990 and respected for pushing hip-hop in Nigeria, DJ Jimmy Jats's skills stands not to be forgotten, accumulating loads of fans anytime he decides to spin.

During his time as a rap act with demos looking for labels to sign him, DJ Jimmy Jatts was called Master J. He soon gave up on that dream, establishing a studio called JATT studio at Odo Street, Lagos with the help of his brothers who also linked him to Kachi who gave Jimmy Jatt essential and adequate schooling on Disc Jockeying, giving him the foundation that he has built on. DJ Jimmy Jatts changed his name in honor of his brothers, this he did by combining the first letters of his name, Jimmy and that of his two brothers, Tunde and Tayo as well as their surname – Amu.

Although Quiet, reserved and conservative in real life, DJ Jimmy Jatts is anything but when he comes to his career. He became popular after he pioneered  ‘Road block’ which was a street carnival involving lyrical battles between aspiring artists with the likes of Junior and Pretty, Daddy Fresh, Daddy Showkey, DJ Abdullah, El Cream, Ruff, Rugged and Raw and Aladin (Formerly known as Chuck Da Bone), all lighting up the stage and entertaining the crowd.

He released his debut album, “The Definition” in 2007 which was a mix tape featuring over 50 of Nigeria’s best artists like Tuface Idibia, Mode 9,Elajoe and several others. This album made waves, accumulating awards and nominations from the Channel O Africa music video award, ,Hip hop World Award, Sound City Music Video Award, Nigerian Music Video Award and Nigerian Music Award to name a few.

He has headlined many shows, sharing the stage with the likes of Akon, 50cent, Sean Paul, LL Cool J, Usher among others. In 2013,  the Remy Martin VIP party was held in honor of him and his contribution to music.

DJ Jimmy Jatt has a T.V programme called ‘Jimmy’s Jump Off’ and is part of the campaign against unprotected sex which was an important feature of his Play Safe National campus tour in Nigeria.

He was appointed as the Red bull ambassador in Nigeria at the Red Bull Music Academy held in Tokyo in 2011.
