Jubril Adewale Tinubu was born on June 26th, 1967 in Eti-Osa, Lagos State, Nigeria into the popular Tinubu family. Adewale is a lawyer, businessman and Group Chief Executive of Oando Plc., one of Arica's leading indigenous energy solutions provider. He also serves on the board of various blue-chip companies as Chairman and Director.

Tinubu obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Liverpool, England, in 1988 and a Master's degree in Law (LLM) from the London School of Economics where he specialised in International Finance and Shipping in 1989. He attended the Nigerian Law School from 1989 to 1990 and was officially called to the Nigerian Bar in 1990.
Tinubu began his career with his family's law firm, K.O. Tinubu & Co. where he worked on corporate and petroleum law assignments. In 1994, he became one of the founding partners of the Ocean and Oil Group. Whilst at Ocean and Oil, he was responsible for the strategic expansion of the business. He has served as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Oando Plc since January 2005. He also worked as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Oando Plc since July 2001 and was its Executive Director of Finance and Administration.
He has been the Non-Executive Chairman of Equator Exploration Ltd. since September 8th, 2009 and as Executive Chairman of Oando Energy Resources Inc., since July 24, 2012. He has been its Director since July 24th, 2012. He serves as the Chairman of Gaslink Nigeria Ltd., Oando Supply and Trading, Oando Power, Oando Ghana, Oando Togo and Oando Sierra Leone and serves on the Board of Directors of Tilca Nigeria, Trojan Estates and Vee Networks (formerly Econet Wireless Nigeria). He served as Chairman of Exile Resources, Inc. He has also been a Director of Equator Exploration Ltd. since 2009. He is a Member of the Institute of Directors.
In 2014, under his leadership Oando PLC successfully concluded the US$1.5 billion acquisition of Conoco Phillips Nigeria business, a first for a Nigerian indigenous company and transforming the company into the country’s largest indigenous oil and gas producer with an estimated output of 54,000 boepd. He is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, 7th Governing Council for Lagos State University and the Institute of Directors of Nigeria.
Tinubu is married and lives in Lagos. He is the nephew of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a former senator and governor of Lagos State, and presently the national leader of the All Progressives Congress.
