Hon. Pondi attended Nana College from where he graduated in 1993. He also attended Ugborkoko Secondary School graduated in 1997. In 2003 he graduated from Keffi Academy and went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree in 2009 from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) in Imo State.

Prior to joining politics, Hon. Pondi worked as a project manager for various firms. In 2007 he was elected to represent Ogulagha Ward 19 in Burutu Legislative House. In 2015, he was elected under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Burutu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja. 

Hon. Pondi focuses on empowering his constituents. In January 2018, over 30 Nigerian youths, sponsored by Hon. Pondi's scholarship scheme in Maritime and Nautical studies at Joe Marine Institute of Nautical Studies and Research graduated with flying colours. He continues to embark programs that will add direct value to the lives of his constituents.
