Hon. Agbonayinma attended Agbado Primary School and graduated with a First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1978. He had his secondary education Airwele High School, Edo State and graduated in 1983 with a West African School Certificate (WASC). He moved to the United States where he studied Security and Intelligence at the University of Houston, Texas and graduated in 1988. He also obtained a certificate in real estate in 2006 at the Tomball College, Texas.
