Hon. Abdulahi Umar Faruk was born in 1963 in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Nigeria. He is a civil servant, businessman and politician represent Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo and Bunza Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

Hon Faruk attended Giginya Memorial Teacher's College in Sokoto, Sokoto State. He graduated with a Grade II Certificate in 1984. He also obtained a diploma from the Niger State Polytechnic.
Hon Faruk worked as a civil servant in Sokoto State from 1986 to 1991. He proceeded to Kebbi State where he also worked as a civil servant from 1991 until 1996 when he left for a private company. From 1996 to 2000 he worked with African Projects Construction Company.
Upon joining politics in the early 2000s, Hon Faruk was elected into the Federal House of Representatives in 2003 to represent Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza Federal Constituency. He was re-elected in 2007 and 2011.
In 2015 he was re-elected under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for a third term. His legislative interest is in education and infrastructural development.
