Hon Jerry attended Holy Ghost College in Owerri, Imo State and obtained the West African Senior Certificate (WASC) in 1974. He proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Oyo state and graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor's degree in Education. In 1980 he completed his Master's degree at the University of Ibadan.

Hon Alagboso worked in as a public servant from 1981 to 2006. In 2011 he was elected under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Orlu/Oru East/Orsu Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives. From 2011 to 2015 he served in the following committees; Media and Public Affairs, Education (Basic & Secondary), Diaspora Matters, Customs and Excise, Commerce, Special Duties, and Banking & Currency.

In 2015, he was re-elected for a second term and serves as Chairman at Federal Roads Maintenance Agency Committee. His legislative interest is making constructive that will impact positively on the Nigerian laws.
