Yenagoa

Yenagoa local government area is domiciled in Bayelsa state, South-south geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA doubles as the capital city of the state and is made up of several districts and suburbs which include Imgbi, Kpansia, Okaka, Swali, Ekeki, Ede-Epe, Julius Berger and Sani Abacha Road. Yenagoa LGA has an estimated population of 385,442 inhabitants with the area hosting members of diverse ethnic colourations. The Izon and English languages are commonly spoken in Yenagoa LGA while the religion of Christianity is extensively practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Yenagoa LGA include the Crest Hospital, the Bayelsaa state Government House,  and the Swali Model Secondary School.

Yenagoa LGA occupies a total area of 1,698 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 26 degrees centigrade. The LGA falls within the Tropical Monsoon climate zone and has an estimated total precipitation of 2800 mm of rainfall per annum.

ECONOMY OF YENAGOA

Trade is an important component of the economy of Yenagoa LGA with the area hosting several markets which include the popular Swali market which attracts several buyers and sellers of different commodities. Yenagoa LGA also hosts several hotels, financial institutions, private establishments, industries, restaurants, relaxation spots as well as a plethora of government owned institutions which all contribute to the economy of the area.
