The Kwara State Government Established in 1976, the Kwara State school of Health technology, Offa, in line with Federal Government directive. Sometimes in the mid 70's the then Federal Government gave a directive to the effect that all state Governments in Nigeria should establish at least, a school of Health technology in their respective slates. In accordance with the directive mentioned above, the main objectives of the school are to: Train students of different cadres in Health profession; Retrain and re-orient the existing Health personnel; Carry out research in different fields of health care; Over the years, the objectives have been pursued with vigour and tremendous success has been achieved. Thus in less than ten (10) years, precisely 1983, the school was able to move to the present site. On account of its high academic standard and the conducive learning environment that it offers, the School has been attracting students from far and near, Kwara and non-Kwarans alike. By 2003/2004 academic session it had already graduated over six thousand (6,000) students in various fields of health care. In 2003/2004 academic session three(3) new departments were added to the already existing six (6). The new Department offer programmes in community Nutrition, dental and Optometric health. Presently admission into the Optometric Health programme has been halted. On the 21SI Dec. 2004 the Kwara State House of Assembly passed into law, the bill establishing the institution. On the 15th June 2005, Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Executive Governor of Kwara State assent the bill and passed it into law.
