The School of Health Information Management, UDUTH, Sokoto, is one the schools of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital. The school received full accreditation January, 2018. The history of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital dates back to 1972/3 financial Year when the then Federal Military Government authorized the release of N1m each to 12 States of the Federation for the development of Specialist Hospitals with teaching facilities.

It is among the crop of Teaching Hospitals that were later established by decrees in May 1980 as second generation Teaching Hospitals along with Calabar, Port-Harcourt, Ilorin, Maiduguri and Jos. Seventeen Years after, precisely in 1989, the project was completed and commissioned by the then Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.

The Hospital, which started operating in the present Sokoto Specialist Hospital has witnessed transformations and growth since then. It is gratifying to note that its growth has translated into the provision of Tertiary Health care services to the entire Northwestern region and our neighboring Niger republic
