Jamiu Abiodun Alimi was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on October 5th, 1992. He is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Akwa United in the Nigerian Professional Football League.

Alimi played for Ukranian club Tavriya Simferopol, between 2011 and 2012 before joining Olympiakos Nicosia in Cyprus for the 2012/2013 season. He return to Nigeria in 2014 and signed for Sharks of Port Harcourt (now Rivers United). He played for Shooting Stars (3SC) in 2015 and Kano Pillars in 2016.
In the mid-season transfer window of April 2017, the defender completed his move to Akwa United from Kano Pillars in the NPFL. Alimi who played 33 NPFL games at Kano Pillars struggled to start games in the 2016/2017 season under coach Kadiri Ikhana, but returned to the team after the coach was fired. He relented from extending his contract with the club and chose to move to Akwa United as a free agent.
The former 3SC defender had one of his best seasons in the 2015 NPFL season which helped to earn him his first national team call-up. He has since then been capped four times by Nigeria.
Born into a Muslim family, Alimi lost his father on October 30th, 2016. There are currently no reports of him in a relationship.
