Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama was born on March 23rd, 1988, in Lagos state, Nigeria, to Andrew Nkwor Iyamah and Onyi Iyamah from Delta state. She is an actress and model.

Born and bred in Lagos, Somkele is the third of four children belonging to a closely-knit family. Her father was an engineer and owned a power generating retail and service company before he died when she was about twelve years old. Her mother has run the company since then and that has helped sustain the family through the years.
She attended Chrisland and Grange schools in Lagos before moving to Lifeforte School while in grade 10 and completed grade 12 at Columbia International College, Canada. She studied Biochemistry at McMaster University, Canada.
Somkele began her acring career at a young age when her drama teacher in primary school, Mrs. Abe, ignited that spark. According to her, "She never took no for an answer and once she saw that you could deliver, she would get it out of you. I loved the fact that she also taught drama with a Christian influence. The first time I heard of Kirk Franklin, she brought it to us in class and that was it." Her interest in the arts was ignited after playing the lead role in an adaptation of The Prodigal Son: The Clown while attending Grange School in Lagos.
Iyamah officially starting her acting career in 2012, her first feature film was with director Neville Ossai in Dreamwalker, where she played a minor role. In 2016, she became a name to reckon with after three films she starred in went to premiere at the Toronto International Film festival (TIFF). In the same year, she was also selected as the first female international TIFF Rising Star. Her first TV appearance was in the critically acclaimed TV series, GIDI UP as YVONNE, where she worked with award winning actor and co TIFF Rising Star, O.C. Ukeje directed by Jadesola Osiberu. Also in 2016, she took part in The Wedding Party where she played the role of Yemisi.
When she is not in front of the camera, she is behind the scenes managing the fashion brand, Andrea Iyamah, a form of self-expression for her and a huge turn-off are visible underwear lines, which was founded by the head designer, Dumebi Iyamah.
In May 2014, the actress got married to the love of her life, and in October 2014, the couple welcomed their first child. Being an active mother, wife, daughter and sister, of all her involvements, family is most important to her. A private person, she loves to work out, cook and fill her mind with the philosophies of my world in reference to the Bible.
She is the second sister of Oby Iyamah (CEO of Switch Cosmetics, Creative Director of Camouflage Makeup Art and a Web Developer) and Dumebi Iyamah (founder of Andrea Iyamah). She is also a fashion and health enthusiast.
