Honourable Nse Bassy Ekpenyong was born in 1964 into a family from Oron in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He is a businessman and politician who currently represents Oron, Mbo, Okobo, Urueoffong Oruku and Udung-Uko in the Federal House of Representative.

Honourable Ekpenyong obtained his West African Senior Certificate in 1985 from St. Vincent Secondary School Oti-Obor. He further earned a National Diploma (ND) in 2011 from the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba.
Honourable Ekpenyong served as a Managing Director of Based/Investment Trust Co Nigeria Ltd. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Brule Integrated Nigeria Ltd.
As a politician, he was the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party. He was later elected member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. In 2015 he was elected into the Federal House of Representatives as a member representing Oron/Mbo/Okobo/UrueOffong/Oruko/Udung-Uko Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). His Legislative Interests border on making good and profitable laws and effective rule of law. He hopes to promote the maritime sector in the Niger Delta.
In October 2017, Honourable Ekpenyong was arraigned at the Federal High Court, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over forgery saga. He was allegedly remanded in Uyo prisons for failing to meet bail conditions.
