Aniocha North local government area is found in Delta state, Southsouth Nigeria. With the headquarters of the LGA in the town of Iselle ukwu, the area comprises towns and villages such as Idumuje-unor, Idumuje-ugboko, Anioma, Ukwu-nzu, Isa –ogwashi, Obomkpa, and Iselle ukwu. The Obi of Iselle ukwu is a prominent traditional ruler in the LGA which is home to a number of tribal divisions such as the Urhobo and the Itsekiri. Christianity and traditional religion are the commonly practiced religions in the area while the LGA hosts a number of colourful festivals which include the New Yam festival and the Ine Efifie dance festival.
Aniocha North LGA covers a total area of 406 square kilometres with the area featuring two distinct seasons which are the rainy and the dry seasons. The humidity of the area is put at 89 percent with the average temperature of the area estimated at 25 degrees centigrade.
Aniocha North LGA has large reserves of crude oil and natural gas with the activities of oil mining firms contributing immensely to the economy of the area. Fishing is also an important economic feature of the area with commerce also contributing to the area’s economy with the area hosting a number of markets such as the Ahia Ute-ogbeje and the Isele-ukwu market.
