Warri South West

Warri south-west local government area is found in Delta state, South-south geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Ogbe-Ijoh and the LGA comprises of several towns and villages which include Okerenkoko, Ogbe-ijoh, Gbaramatu, Isaba, Diebiri, Ugborodo, and Madangho. The estimated population of Warri south-west LGA is put at 183,420 inhabitants with the LGA majorly inhabited by members of the Itsekiri and Ijaw ethnic affiliations. The Itsekiri and Ijaw languages are commonly spoken in Warri south LGA while the religions of Christianity and traditionalism are widely practiced in the area. The Olu of Warri superintends over all traditional affairs in Warri south LGA while notable landmarks in the area include the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko and the Escravos Gas Plant.

Warri South-west LGA has enormous deposits of crude oil and natural gas and hosts several oil mining and refining companies. The LGA is also a hub for fishing with the area’s water bodies being rich in seafood. The LGA also hosts a number of markets, hotels, banks, relaxation spots, industries as well as a number of government-owned establishments.
