Akoko Edo

Akoko Edo is a local government area in Edo state which is found in the Southsouth geopolitical enclave of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. With the headquarters of the LGA in the town of Igarra, Akoko Edo LGA is made up of a number of towns and villages which include Akuku, Imoga, Ekpedo, Onumu, Ogugu, Akpama, and Ibillo.

Christianity and Islam are the widely practiced religions in Akoko Edo while the population of the LGA is estimated at 145,089 inhabitants. Popular festivals in Akoko Edo include the Aba festival held in Igarra while notable landmarks in the area include the Federal Government College Ibillo.

Popular economic activities in Akoko Edo include farming, wood processing, pottery, hunting and trading with popular markets such as the Ibillo market and the Lampese market providing meeting points for sellers and buyers to transact business. Akoko Edo is also rich in mineral deposits such as marble, gold, granite, and gravel.
