Gombe

Gombe local government area is in Gombe state, Northeast geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the city of Gombe. Gombe LGA comprises of several districts such as Arawa, Doma, Gabukku, Inna, Pantami, and Manawashi. The estimated population of Gombe LGA is put at 172,324 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s populace made up of members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa language is extensively spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is the widely practiced religion in the area.

GEOGRAPHY OF GOMBE

Gombe LGA occupies a total area of 52 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 32 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average humidity level of the area is put at 24 percent while the total precipitation in the area is at an average of 850 mm of rainfall per annum.

ECONOMY OF GOMBE

A number of crops such as groundnut, Arabic gum, millet, and beans are grown in Gombe LGA. Mineral deposits such as Gyson, Bentonite, and limestone are found in substantially large quantities within the area. Trade, Animal rearing, and hunting are other key features of the economic activities engaged in by the people of Gombe LGA.
