Epe

Epe local government area is in Lagos state, Southwest Nigeria and is located close to the Lekki peninsula. Towns and villages that constitute Epe LGA include Ejinrin, Agbowa, Epe, Erodo, Abomiti, Boluduro, Enuito, Imamusa, and Fowosodi. The population of Epe LGA is estimated at 303,655 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Yoruba ethnic division. The Yoruba language is widely spoken in the area while Christianity is the major religion in Epe. Epe is home to a number of colourful festivals which include the Eebi festival while popular landmarks in the area include the Augustine University.

ECONOMY OF EPE

Epe local government area is mainly known for its enormous amounts of seafood. Fishing is a major occupation of the area’s inhabitants with the area’s several rivers being rich in fishes,crayfish, periwinkles, and oysters. Trade also blossoms in Epe LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Oluwo market, Aiyetoro market and the popular Epe fish market. Farming is another important economic engagement in Epe LGA with the area known for the cultivation of crops such as plantain and coconut. Epe LGA also has a river port situated in the town of Ejinrin.
