Ifedayo

Ifedayo local government area is in Osun state, Souhwest Nigeria with the headquarters of the LGA in the town of Oke-Ila. The LGA is made up of several towns and villages such as Ora-igbomina, Balogun, Obanla, Idi awere, Abanju Akesin, Oyi Adumi, Oyi Araromi, and Temidire. The estimated population of Ifedayo LGA is put at 93,777 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Igbomina sub-division of the Yoruba ethnic group. The Yoruba language is extensively spoken in the LGA while Christianity and Islam are the widely practiced religions in the area. Ifedayo has a number of prominent traditional rulers and these include the Orangun of Oke-ila, and the Akesin of Ora-igbomina. Popular festivals celebrated in Ifedayo LGA include the Isinro and the Ilawa Obalufon festivals while notable landmarks in the area include the Ayinkunugba falls.

Ifedayo LGA sits on an area measuring about 128 square kilometres and witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average humidity level of the LGA is 60 percent while the average wind speed in the area is 11 km/h.

ECONOMY OF IFEDAYO

Farming is the major occupation of the people of Ifedayo LGA with a variety of crops grown in the area. Trade also booms in the LGA with the area hosting several markets where a plethora of commodities are bought and sold. Other important economic activities in Ifedayo LGA are traditional textile dyeing, hunting, and craftsmanship.
