Hon Sani attended Government Secondary School Rano and graduated in 1983 with a Senior School Certificate. In 1987 he earned a diploma from the School for Social & Rural Development Rano, Kano State. He obtained another diploma in 2003 from Aminu School of Islamic Studies.

Hon Sani is a lifelong member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). From 2003 to 2007 he was a member of the Kano State House of Assembly. In 2007 he was elected to represent Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives. He was subsequently re-elected in 2011 and 2015. H has also served on multiple House committees such as; Electoral Matters & Political Party Matters, Public Service Matter, Petroleum Resources (Up Stream), House Services, Civil Societies & Development, and Niger Delta Development Committee. His legislative interest is to bring social, economic, and religious developments to his constituents.
