Hon Muhammad began his primary education in the late 1960s and completed it in 1972. He proceeded to the Government Secondary School, Koko, Kebbi State and graduated in 1976. He had his tertiary education at the Teacher's College (1978), Institute of Administration at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (1984) and the Polytechnic (1997).

Hon Dantani Muhammad began his career working with an insurance company. In 1999 he was elected to the Kebbi State House of Assembly. From 1999 to 2007 he was the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly. He left the State House in 2015 and was immediately elected under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to represent Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski at the Federal House of Representatives.
