Odogbolu

Odogbolu local government area is domiciled in Ogun state, South-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Odogbolu and the LGA shares boundaries with the Ijebu North and Ikene LGAs and with parts of Lagos state. Towns and villages that make up Odogbolu LGA include Imaweje, Imoro, Irete, Itanrin, Jobore, Odoragba, Adofe, Moloko, and Ijagun. The current estimated population of Odogbolu LGA is put at 149,781 inhabitants with the area’s populace mostly made up of people from the Yoruba tribe. The Yoruba language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religions of Christianity and Islam are practiced in the area. Odogbolu LGA hosts the Leguru and Ifesowapo Local Concil Development Areas. Popular festivals celebrated in Odogbolu LGA include the Agemo and Egungun festivals.

Odogbolu LGA occupies a total area of 541 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 27 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average humidity level in the area put at 59 percent.

Trade is an important feature of the economy of Odogbolu LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Oke Owa market where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. Farming is also an important economic activity in Odogbolu LGA with a wide variety of crops grown in the area. Other important economic activities engaged in by people of Odogbolu LGA include hunting and crafts making.
