Hon Jagaba served as the Vice Chairman of Kagarko Local Government from 1996 to 1997. In 1999 he was elected as the member representing Kachia/Kagarko Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives. He was at the House until 2003 and returned in 2011. From 2011 to 2015 he was Chairman at Drugs & Narcotics Committee, and Committee Member at Federal Capital Territory Committee. He also belonged to Information and National Orientation, Ethics & Values, Marine Safety, Education & Administration, Inter-Parliamentary Relations, Civil Societies and Development, and Anti-Corruption Committees.

He was re-elected in 2015 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is the Chairman at Interior Committee.
