Afikpo South

Afikpo South local government area is domiciled in Ebonyi state which falls under the Southeast geopolitical division of Nigeria. The headquarters of Afikpo south LGA is at Nguzu Edda and comprises of several towns and villages which include Ebuwana Edda, Ekoli Edda, Oso Edda, Ogbu Edda, and Etiti Edda. Afikpo south LGA has an estimated population of 288,054 inhabitants with the predominant tribe being the Edda sub-group of the Igbo tribe.

Afikpo south was created in the year 1991 from the old Afikpo local government area and has the Eze Edda as the traditional administrator of the area. Igbo and English languages are commonly spoken in the area while Christianity and traditional religion are the widely practiced religions.
