Ezza south local government area is in Ebonyi state which is domiciled in Ebonyi state, Southeast Nigeria. The headquarters of the area are in the town of Onueke and consists of several towns and villages such as Isieke, Achara-ikwo, Afiaelem, Echibokum, Ekebeligwe, Inyafor, Ndeagu, and Okposhi-mgbo. The population of Ezza south LGA is estimated at 139,563 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s populace being members of the Ezza sub-division of the Igbo ethnic group. The Ezza dialect is widely spoken in the area while Christianity is the most practiced religion in the LGA. Indigenous festivals celebrated in Ezza South LGA include the Oke Aku festival.
Ezza south LGA covers a total area of 324 square kilometres and experiences two major seasons which are the dry and rainy seasons. The average temperature of the area is 27 degrees centigrade while the humidity level of the area averages 69 percent.
Farming is the major occupation of the people of Ezza south LGA with crops such as rice, yam, cassava, and cocoyam grown in substantially large quantities in the area. Trade also blossoms in the area with the LGA hosting several markets such as the Onueke and the Ngamgbo Nwele markets which provides the platform for the exchange of a variety of goods and services in the area.
