Akoko northwest local government area is found in Ondo state which is domiciled in the Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA has its headquarters in the town of Okeagbe and is made up of several towns and villages which include Ase, Afin, Oke-agbe, Oyin, Ogbagi, Irun, Igasi.
The population of the area is estimated at 197, 324 inhabitants with the Yoruba ethnic division being the dominant tribe in the area. English and Yoruba languages are vastly spoken in the area while Christianity and Islam are the widely practiced faiths. There are a number of important festivals held periodically within Akoko northwest which include the Okota and Areso festivals. Important landmarks within Akoko northwest include the El-Gaff aluminium company and the Olarenwaju Motors.
Akoko northwest covers a total area of 512 km squared with an average humidity of 60 percent. The average temperature of the area is estimated at 28 degrees centigrade while the LGA features two distinct seasons, the rainy and dry seasons.
Agriculture is a key economic enterprise in the area while trading also contributes substantially to the economy of Akoko northwest with markets such as the Ajowa and Ajuta markets providing veritable platforms for the exchange of a plethora of goods and services.
