Ondo east local government area is domiciled in Ondo state, South-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria with the headquarters of the LGA situated at Bolorunduro. Ondo east LGA is bordered by the Idanre, Ondo west, Ile-oluji LGAs and by parts of Osun state. The towns and villages that constitute Ondo east LGA include Oboto, Owena, Obadere, Ajegunle, Tekunle, Bomodeloku, Leruku, Omunutun, and Tolagbola. The current estimated population of Ondo east LGA is put at 227,908 inhabitants with the area mostly populated by members of the Yoruba ethnic group. The Yoruba language is extensively spoken in the area while the religions of Christianity and Islam are widely practiced in the LGA.
Ondo east LGA occupies a total area of 896 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The estimated total precipitation in the area is put at 52 percent while the average wind speed in the area is put at 10 km/h.
Ondo east LGA has a boisterous trade sector and hosts a number of markets such as the Owena Regional market where a wide variety of commodities are bought and sold. The LGA also has a rich agricultural heritage with the area known for the cultivation of several crops such as kolanut, maize, pepper, and vegetables. Other important economic activities of the people of Ondo east LGA include welding, hunting and the rearing of domestic animals.
