Akure South

Akure south local government area is domiciled in Ondo state, Southwest Nigeria. The headquarters of the area is at Akure and includes districts such as Abiodun street, Isikan, Oluwatoyi street, Irowo street, Hospital road, Ondo road and Isolo road. The area is home to several tribes with the most dominant being the Yoruba. The Yoruba and English languages are widely spoken in Akure south while Christianity and Islam are widely practiced in the area. Popular landmarks within Akure south LGA include the ID Aluminium company and the Nevo Pharmaceutical company.

Akure south LGA covers a total area of 331 km squared with a humidity of 60 percent and an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The two main seasons in Akure south are the dry and the rainy seasons with the area falling under the Tropical savannah climate.

ECONOMY OF AKURE SOUTH

Akure south is home to several manufacturing companies which add substantially to the area’s economy. Trade is another important feature of the area with markets such as the Mojere market and the Tisco Supermarket attracting hundreds of buyers and sellers on a daily basis. The area also has a number of schools, hotels, and financial institutions.
