Akure North

Akure north local government area is found in Ondo state which is situated in the Southwest geopolitical division of Nigeria. With its headquarters at Iju/Itaogbolu, the local government area consists of areas such as Alagbaka, Araromi, Ijapo estate, Ijomu, Adegbola, New Hospital road, and the Oyemekun road. Akure north has an estimated population of 396, 048 inhabitants with the vast majority being of the Yoruba ethnic division.

Both Christians and Muslims are commonly found in Akure North LGA while Yoruba and English are the commonly spoken languages. The Airegbe festival and the Odun Ina festival are popular festivals held in Akure North while popular landmarks in the area include the Tisco building and the Basco Nigeria limited complex.

GEOGRAPHY OF AKURE NORTH

Akure north covers a total area of 660 km squared with wind speed at 10 km/h. The average humidity of the area is pegged at 60 percent with annual temperature estimated at 28 degrees centigrade. There are two major seasons in Akure North which include the dry and rainy seasons.

ECONOMY OF AKURE NORTH

Akure North is both agrarian and commercial in nature. There is a wide presence of markets supermarkets, hotels and private and public owned institutions which contribute favourably to the economy of the LGA. Popular markets in Akure North include the Oritagun market and the Shasha market with buyers accessing a plethora of commodities at these and other markets.
