Bekwarra local government area is found in Cross River state, Southsouth Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Abuochiche and consists of towns such as Beten, Ugboro, Itekpa, Utukwe, Ibiragidi, Ukpah, Ijibor and Uduoh. Bekwarra LGA shares borders with the Ogoja, Obudu, and Yada LGAs as well as with Benue state. The area is home to a number of tribes with members of the Bekwarra ethnic sub-division being the most populous in the area. Christianity and traditional religion are the commonly practiced religions in Bekwarra. Bekwarra LGA is home to the prestigious annual Miss Bekwarra beauty pageant.
Bekwarra LGA covers a total area of 306 km squared and comprises of a number of rivers and tributaries. The average temperature of the area is put at 25 degrees centigrade with the humidity of the area estimated at 91 percent.
