Calabar South local government area is found in Cross River state, Southsouth geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the area are in the town of Anantigha and the LGA is made up of several districts which include Henshaw town, Effut Uwanse, and Efut Ebua. The area is home to about 93,104 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being from the Efik and the Qua ethnic affiliations. The widely practiced religion in Calabar South is Christianity while the Efik and English languages are widely spoken within the LGA. The popular Calabar carnival is held within and around the Calabar south LGA.
Calabar south LGA covers a total area of 264 square kilometres and has a humidity level of 81 percent. The dry and the rainy seasons are the two seasons witnessed in the area with the average temperature of the LGA pegged at 25 degrees centigrade.
