Enugu South

Enugu south local government area is domiciled in Enugu state, Southeast Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Enugu. Enugu South comprises of several districts and streets which include Awkananaw, Achara layout, Agbani road, Ozalla, Uwani, Meniru, Ugwuaji, and Maryland. The population of Enugu South local government area is put at 204,556 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s populace being members of the Igbo ethnic group. The Igbo and English languages are spoken in Enugu south while Christianity is the widely practiced religion in the area. The average humidity of the area is put at 69 percent while the LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with a brief harmattan coming during the dry season.

Enugu South LGA has enormous deposits of coal. The area is also known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as maize, yam and cassava. Enugu south LGA is also home to a number of Markets which include the Kenyatta market and the Mayor market.
