Dekina local government area is in Kogi state which is situated in the Northcentral geopolitical enclave of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Dekina while the LGA is made up of a number of towns and villages such as Ologba, Ulaja, Oduate, Adoloko, Olowa, Ijoji, Agala, Birdu, and Acharu. The population of Dekina LGA is estimated at 125,607 inhabitants with the prominent tribes in the area being the Igala and the Egume. The Christian and Muslim religions are commonly practiced in the area while the Igala and Egume languages are spoken in the LGA. A number of colourful festivals are held in Dekina LGA such as the Egbe festival and the Igala cultural festival. Popular landmarks in Dekina LGA include the campus of the Kogi state University.
