Kabba/bunu

Kabba/Bubu local government area is situated in Kogi state, Northcentral geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Kabba with the LGA comprising of several towns and villages which include Egbeda, Okedayo, Bunu, Odogbo, Guguruji, Ayangan, and Kabba. The estimated population of Kabba/Bunu LGA is put at 210,442 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s population made up of members of the Okun ethnic sub division. The Owe language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religions of Islam and Christianity are widely practiced within the area. A number of colourful festivals are held in Kabba/Bunu LGA and these include the New yam and the Oro festivals while the area also has a number of traditional rulers such as the Obaro of Kabba.

GEOGRAPHY OF KABBA/BUNU

Kabba/Bunu LGA occupies a total area of 2,706 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The area is well forested with average humidity levels at around 57 percent. A number of hills are found in and around Kabba/Bunu LGA and these include the popular Obangogo hills.

ECONOMY OF KABBA/BUNU

Owing to its vast forest reserves, lumbering is a major component of the economy of Kabba/Bunu LGA. Agriculture is also an important economic activity in the area with crops such as coffee grown in the LGA. A range of domestic animals such as goats and cattle area also reared and sold in the LGA. Other important economic enterprises undertaken by people of Kabba/Bunu LGA include craftsmanship and Trade.
