Ganye

Ganye local government area is in Adamawa state, Northeast Nigeria. The LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Yebbi, Gurum, Banarikiuso, Timdore, sugu, Jaggu, Bagana, Dakauro, and Gauso. The Gangwari Ganye is a prominent traditional ruler in Ganye LGA. The estimated population of Ganye LGA is put at 161,055 inhabitants with the prominent tribe in the area being the Chamba ethnic group. The Sama mum language is extensively spoken in the area while Islam is the most practiced religion in the LGA.

Ganye LGA has an average temperature of 35 degrees centigrade and witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The dry season in Ganye LGA is often characterized by prolonged sunshine and very high temperatures. The average humidity of Ganye LGA is 16 percent while the the total annual rainfall in the LGA is 800 mm.

ECONOMY OF GANYE

Farming is the predominant occupation of the people of Ganye local government with crops such as maize, guineacorn, potatoes, and groundnut grown in the area. Trade also blossoms in Ganye LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Ganye cattle market and the Ganye New market. Other important economic activities undertaken by the people of Ganye LGA include cattle rearing, pottery, and mat and basket weaving.
