Dass

Dass local government area is situated in Bauchi state, Northeast Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Dass. Several towns and villages make up Dass local government area and these include Baraza, Bazali, Durr, Bajar-Bagel, Wandi, Bundot, Lukshi, and Dott. The LGA is also home to the renowned Dass Emirate with the Emir of Dass acting as the traditional administrator of the LGA. The population of Dass LGA is put at 114, 807 inhabitants with the most prominent tribe being the Hausa ethnic group. The religion of Islam is widely practiced in Dass LGA while the Hausa language is commonly spoken in the area. Popular landmarks in Dass LGA include the Mbulla hills.

GEOGRAPHY OF DASS

Dass LGA has a hilly landscape and hosts a number of hills scattered over its territory and these include the Mbula hills. The LGA sits on a total area of 535 square kilometres and has an elevation of about 700 meters above sea level. Dass LGA falls within the Guinea Savannah and boasts an average annual temperature of 32 degrees centigrade. The humidity level of Dass LGA is put at 18 percent.

ECONOMY OF DASS

Farming is the major occupation of the people of Dass LGA with crops such as Maize and Rice produced in massive quantities within the area. Dass LGA is also rich in mineral resources and boasts substantial deposits of minerals such as feldspar, quartz, zinc, iron, and Kaolin.
