Kirfi

Kirfi local government area is situated within Bauchi state, Northeast Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Kirfin kasa. The LGA is bordered by parts of Gombe state while the area is made up of a number of towns and villages such as Danonguza, Jabba, Arawa, Shango, Wanka, Kaloma, Harda, and Bage. The estimated population of Kirfi LGA is put at 179,400 inhabitants with the area’s dwellers consisting mainly of members of the Hausa and the Bure ethnic groups. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in Kirfi LGA while Islam and Christianity are the widely practiced religions in the area.

Kirfi LGA sits on a total area of 2,371 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 32 degrees centigrade. The average humidity level in Kirfi LGA is put at 30 percent while the total precipitation in the LGA is put at an estimate of 1050 mm of rainfall per annum.

ECONOMY OF KIRFI

Kirfi LGA has a rich Agricultural heritage with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as watermelons, rice, millet, and sorghum. The area is also a trade hub with the LGA hosting a number of markets where a variety of goods and services are exchanged. Other important economic enterprises engaged in by the people of Kirfi LGA include animal rearing, hunting, and pottery.
