Gamawa

Gamawa local government area is in Bauchi state, Northeast Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Gamawa. The LGA shares borders with Yobe state and consists of several towns and villages which include Gololo and Gamawa. The estimated population of Gamawa LGA is 176,422 inhabitants with the most populous tribes in the area being the Hausa and Fulani. The Fufulde and Hausa languages are widely spoken in the area while Islam is the most practiced religion in the LGA. Gamawa LGA has an illustrious Emirate that is headed by an Emir who acts as a traditional administrator of the area. Gamawa LGA covers a total area of 2,925 square kilometres and witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average temperature of the area is put at 32 degrees centigrade while the humidity levels of the LGA are at an average of 24 percent.

ECONOMY OF GAMAWA

Gamawa LGA is known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as millet, guineacorn, soyabeans, and beans. Trade is also a critical economic activity in the LGA with a number of markets domiciled in the area. Other important occupations of the people of Gamawa LGA include cattle rearing, hunting, blacksmithing and textile weaving.
