About Jema'a Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Jema’a local government area is situated in Kaduna state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Kafanchan. Towns and villages that make up Jema’a LGA include Godogodo, Kagoma, Ubandoma, Alfana, Katak, Mamang, Jibin, and Dagoma. The estimated population of Jema’a LGA is put at 271,882 inhabitants with the area hosting members of a number of different tribal affiliations. The widely spoken language in Jema’a LGA is the Hausa language while the religions of Christianity and Islam are widely practiced in the area. Jema’a LGA is part of the prestigious Jema’a Emirate with the Kafanchan General Hospital being an important landmark within the LGA.


GEOGRAPHY OF JEMA'A

Jema’a LGA occupies a total area of 1,661 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 32 degrees centigrade. The area has an average humidity level of 30 percent while the average wind speed in the area is 11 km/h.


ECONOMY OF JEMA'A

Jema’a LGA is widely renowned for its rich deposits of high-grade Nickel. The area also has a rich agricultiural heritage with a variety of crops such as ginger grown in substantially large quantities within the area. Jema’a LGA is also a hub for rearers of a wide range of domestic animals such as donkeys, camels, rams, and sheep. Other important economic activities engaged in by the people of Jema’a LGA include hunting and trade.
