Sanga local government area is situated in Kaduna state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Gwantu. Sanga LGA shares borders with parts of Nasarawa and Plateau states and is made up of several towns and villages such as Ankpon, Fadan Karshi, Gwantu, Arak, Doromiya, Kawo, Mahanga, and Bashayi. The LGA has an estimated population of 249,513 inhabitants with the area primarily inhabited by members of diverse ethnic groups such as the Mada, Numana, and the Nizam. The Mada language is one of the spoken languages in Sanga LGA while the prominent traditional rulers in the LGA include the Etum Numana.
Sanga LGA covers a total area of 781 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 32 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two dinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average wind speed in the area put at 10 km/h.
Sanga LGA has a rich agricultural heritage with the area known for the cultivation of a variety of crops such as sugarcane, onions, rice, and millet. Animal rearing is also an important economic activity in the area with a number of domestic animals such as cows, goats, and rams reared and sold in the LGA. Other important sources of livelihood for the people of Sanga LGA include blacksmithing, pottery and craftsmanship.
