Kauru

Kauru local government area is domiciled in Kaduna state, Northwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Kauru. Towns and villages that make up Kauru LGA include Kumana, kauru, Tsam, Chawai, Tsonje, Kagoro, Madamai, and Kigam. The estimated population of Kauru LGA is put at 251,772 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Atsam tribe. The Atsam language is widely spoken in the area while the religions of Christianity and Islam are widely practiced in the area. Kauru LGA hosts a number of chiefdoms such as the Kauru and Kumana chiefdoms.

Kauru LGA occupies a total area of 2,810 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The total precipitation in the LGA is put at 950 mm of rainfall per annum while the average humidity level in the area is estimated at 29 percent.

ECONOMY OF KAURU

Farming is the major occupation of the people of Kauru LGA with crops such as Ginger, sugarcane, yam, and rice grown in the LGA. Also, a number of domestic animals such as cows, donkeys, and rams are reared and sold in Kauru LGA. Trade also flourishes in Kauru LGA with the area hosting a number of markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold.
