Zaria

Zaria local government area is found in Kaduna state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Zaria with the area hosting the prestigious Zazzau Emirate. The towns, districts and villages that make up Zaria LGA include Zaria, Samaru, Sabon gari, Danmagaji, Hanwa, Bassawa, Kofan-gayan, and Shikka. The current estimated population of Zaria LGA is put at 572,905 inhabitants with the area hosting members of diverse ethnic colourations. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religions of Islam and Chriatianity are widely practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Zaria LGA include the Ahmadu Bello University, the Institute of Agricultural Research and Special Services, and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Training Center.

Zaria LGA occupies a total area of 563 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA has a tropical Savannah Climate and witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons.

ECONOMY OF ZARIA

Zaria LGA has a vibrant trade sector and hosts a number of markets such as the Sabon Gari market where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. Parts of the LGA are in a cosmopolitan area and hosts several banks, hotels, relaxation spots, private establishments, religious institutions as well as government owned firms which all contribute to the economy of the area. A number of crops such as tobacco, cotton, groundnut, sheanut, and soybeans are also grown in Zaria LGA.
