Maiyama

Maiyama local government area is found in Kebbi state, North-west Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Maiyama. The LGA consists of several towns and villages which include Gamjeji, Aida, Karaye, Gidiga, Liba, Saradosa, Mayalo, and Kuben. The estimated population of Maiyama LGA is put at 199,443 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups. The Maiyama LGA is part of the Gwandu Emirate and has the languages of Hausa and Fufulde spoken in the area while the religion of Islam is commonly practiced in the area.

Farming is an important part of Maiyama LGA with a number of crops cultivated in the area. The area is also a hub for the rearing and sales of a number of domestic animals such as cows and donkeys. Other important economic activities engaged in by the people of Maiyama LGA include hunting, trade, leather works, and blacksmithing.
