Yauri local government area is stationed in Kebbi state, North-west Nigeria. The LGA features a number of towns and villages which include Tashar Garkuwa, Unguwar wali, Hiluka, Tandu, Ungwar Malamai, and Yabon Kuka. The current estimated population of Yauri LGA is put at 241,856 inhabitants with the area occupied by members of diverse ethnic affiliations such as the Shangawa, Gungawa, Dukawa, and the Hausa/Fulani. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in Yauri LGA while the religion of Islam is extensively practiced in the area. Yauri LGA hosts the Yauri Emirate and the area features a number of landmarks which include the Izala central Mosque and the Alheri clinic.
Yauri LGA occupies a total area of 3,380 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA hosts the Yauri River which flows through the area and also serves as a tributary to the River Niger which also flows through the Yauri LGA territory.
Trade is an important feature of the economy of Yauri LG with the area hosting a number of markets such as the Yauri onion market and the Yauri fish market. The LGA is also a hub for farming with crops such as rice and onions grown in very large quantities within the area. Other important economic activities that take place in Yauri LGA include fishing, animal rearing, and leather works.
