Obi local government area is domiciled in Nasarawa state, North-central geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Obi. Towns and villages that make up Obi LGA include Zhemelgi, Obi, Agwatashi, Dedere, Akanga, Adudu, Atabara,and Daddere. The current estimated population of Obi LGA is put at 179,845 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Alago ethnic group. The Alago language is extensively spoken in the LGA while the religions of Islam and Christianity are commonly practiced in the LGA.
Obi LGA covers a total area of 967 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 30 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average wind speed in the area put at 10 km/h.
