About Wamba Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Wamba local government area is in Nasarawa state, North-central geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Wamba and the LGA is made up of towns and villages which include Wamba, Mama, Ukolo, Sisinbaki, kado, Wuji, Nakere, Konwah, and Ragga. The estimated population of Wamba LGA is put at 203,561 inhaitants with the majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Kulere and Eggon ethnic divisions. The Eggon language is spoken in Wamba LGA while the religions of Christianity and Islam are practiced in the area.Wamba LGA hosts the Wamba Emirate and has a number of notable landmarks such as the General Hospital Wamba and the Palace of the Emir.


GEOGRAPHY OF WAMBA

Wamba LGA occupies a total area of 1,156 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 31 degrees centigrade. The LGA lies close to the popular Farin Ruwa falls with the area also hosting several hills.


ECONOMY OF WAMBA

Trade is an important economic activity in Wamba LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Wamba central market which attracts thousands of buyers and sellers of diverse commodities. Farming also thrives in Wamba LGA with the area known for the cultivation of a variety of crops such as yams, rice, millet, sugarcane, and onions. Other important economic activities that take place in Wamba LGA include pottery, hunting, food processing, and animal rearing.
