Okrika local government area is found in Rivers state, South-south geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Ele, Isaka, Koniju, Obumolon, Ogu, Ogolome, Bolo, Ogbogbo, Dikiboama, and Dankiri. The estimated population of Okrika LGA is put at 284,710 inhabitants with the area mostly inhabited by members of the Ijaw and Kalabari ethnic divisions. The Ijaw language is one of the spoken languages in Okrika LGA while the religion of Christianity is widely practiced in the area. The Amayanabo of Okrika is the paramount traditional ruler in the area while the notable landmarks in the LGA include the Fenibeso shrine and the St. Peters Cathedral.

Farming is another occupation undertaken by people of Okrika LGA with the area known for the cultivation of several crops which include cassava, oil palm, yam, and plantain.
