Tai local government area is situated in Rivers state, South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Saakpenwa and the area is made up of several towns and villages such as Kporghor, Gio, Koroma, Kpite, Kira, Gbam, Horo, Botem, and Kebara. The estimated population of Tai LGA is put at 194,732 inhabitants with the area majorly inhabited by members of the Ogoni ethnic group. The Tee and Ban languages are commonly spoken in Tai LGA while the religions of Christianity and traditionalism are widely practiced in the area. The paramount traditional ruler in Tai LGA is the Gbene Mene Tai.
Tai LGA covers an estimated total area of 159 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 25 degrees centigrade. The LGA is home to a number of streams and rivers with the average humidity level in the area put at 73 percent.
