Bakura local government area is located in Zamfara state which is in the Northwest geopolitical enclave of Nigeria. The headquarters of the area are in the town of Bakura and the LGA consists of a number of towns and villages which include Rimi, Bakura, Yarko Fuji, Birnin Tudu, Madacci, Nasarawa, and Dan Kadu. The area has an estimated population of 162,320 inhabitants with a vast majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Hausa, Burmana, and Fulani ethnic sub divisions. Islam is the commonly practiced religion in Bakura LGA with the Hausa and Fufulde languages spoken extensively in the area.
Bakura LGA covers a total area of 1366 square kilometres with the area witnessing two major seasons which are the dry and rainy seasons. The humidity of the area is pegged at 12 percent while the average annual temperature is estimated at 33 degrees centigrade.
Agriculture is a key economic feature in Bakura LGA with other popular enterprises being hunting, cattle rearing and trade. Bakura LGA is also home to the massive Bakolori Dam.
