Bukkuyum local government area is found in Zamfara state, Northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Bukkuyum LGA is bordered by the Anka and Gunmi local government areas. The headquarters of the area are domiciled in the town of Bukkuyum and the LGA is made up of several towns such as Dogon Dajin, Yar’galma, Baruba, and Gurusu. Bukkuyum LGA is home to the Bukkuyum Emirate which is overseen by the Emir of Bukkuyum. Bukkuyum LGA has an estimated population of 169,544 inhabitants with the most populous tribes being the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic divisions. Islam is the most practiced religion in Bukkuyum LGA with the Hausa and fufulde languages spoken extensively in the area.
